When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. Or, in the Webster library’s case, when a virus takes away the indoors, what do you do? Simple: you take advantage of the outdoors.

The Webster Public Library has held multiple “Pop-Up Book Sales” recently - the most recent one taking place on Sept. 10. Unlike previous book sales, these sales have been set up outside the library building, to continue protecting the community from the spread of COVID-19. Attendees browsed the tables of books, all while wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

Even after closing its doors temporarily due to the pandemic, the Webster Public Library continued to offer services to the community - albeit a bit differently. The library got creative with informative YouTube videos, online reading materials, virtual storybook time, and more.

With new health safety measures in place, the library reopened its doors. However, the experience of producing more virtual content has given the library more ways to service the community on top of the offerings supplied by its physical location.

Even with the physical limitations, the Webster community has continued to enjoy all the library’s offerings. From July 6 to Aug. 7, 16,551 items were checked out and 8,032 community members passed through the doors.
