Webster, NY - Webster Central School District (WCSD) has officially named its new Superintendent of Schools.

Earlier this month, the Webster Board of Education (BOE) passed a resolution appointing Brian Neenan the district’s new superintendent. Neenan had been serving as the interim superintendent following the abrupt resignation of former Superintendent Carmen Gumina back in April.

Neenan has been with the Webster district since 2009, serving as the principal of Willink Middle School until 2013. Before taking over for Gumina as interim superintendent, Neenan worked both as WCSD’s deputy superintendent (2015-2021) and assistant superintendent for instruction (2013-2021).

“I consider it a privilege to continue serving Webster CSD as the new superintendent of schools,” Mr. Neenan says in a WCSD news release. “I’m proud of the work that our Webster team does together for our students. I look forward to collaborating with our district community to identify opportunities for us to grow and progress as a district.”

Neenan is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. He went on to earn his Masters of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from SUNY Brockport. He also holds a New York State School District Administrator Certificate.

“Mr. Neenan’s leadership skills and ability to collaborate with our students, families, and staff have made a lasting impact on our district for the past 12+ years, in particular over the last six months,” says Webster CSD Board of Education President Tammy Gurowski. “The board remains thankful for his ongoing commitment to our students’ education and his continued service to Webster CSD.”
