Dennis Kohlmeier named next Webster Police Chief

Kohlmeier returns after previously retiring from Webster PD

Webster, NY - Dennis Kohlmeier, past Webster Police Lieutenant, is returning to serve as the next Chief of Police for the Webster Police Department starting March 8, 2021. He takes the reins from former-Chief Joseph Rieger, who retired this past January.

Kohlmeier is a lifelong Webster resident. He was a member of the Webster Police Department for 20 years before retiring after six years as a lieutenant. Currently, he is Business Development Director for REDCOM Laboratories, Inc.

Kohlmeier has always demonstrated a strong commitment to public safety service, including being a longtime member of the West Webster FIre Department. He also took a three-year hiatus from Webster PD to serve in the U.S. Army and serve in Iraq.

“The selection of a police chief is one of the most important decisions a town board can make,” Webster Town Supervisor Tom Flaherty said in the press release announcing Kohlmeier’s appointment. “That’s why we conducted an open and exhaustive search to find the best possible candidate.”

Flaherty continued, “Dennis Kohlmeier will be ready to serve Webster residents on day one. His law enforcement experience, training, and education are only surpassed by his dedication to the community.”

Kohlmeier’s experience also includes the following:

• Time spent as the Webster PD Bureau Commander, both in the Administrative Section and Operations Section, prior to his retirement;

• Giving both local and national lectures on a variety of police-related topics;

• A master’s degree in Public Administration from SUNY Brockport;

• Enrollment in an MBA program at Syracuse University;

• Graduation from the FBI National Academy, session 267.
