About two weeks ago, Webster police apprehended a juvenile who tried to rob a Sunoco gas station at knife point but was hindered after a citizen intervened.

The Webster Police Department shared a Facebook post stating that a male juvenile pointed a knife at a clerk at the Sunoco gas station at 266 North Avenue in the Village of Webster. The suspect “threatened to stab the clerk and demanded money.”

The suspect tried to exit the scene on a bike with an undisclosed amount of cash. A citizen intervened, hindering the suspect’s departure.

“The suspect eventually left the area on foot,” WPD reports.

After Webster Police Officers “saturated the area” and received helpful tips from some nearby citizens, they were able to apprehend the suspect without incident within about 20 minutes of the original call.

WPD says the gas station clerk suffered no injuries. The name of the citizen who intervened was not disclosed.

Since the suspect was a juvenile, WPD could not release his name. The suspect was charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree, a class B felony. The suspect was released after arraignment to a parent with a “curfew imposed,” and appeared in Monroe County Family Court the next day.
