Webster, NY - A man punched a woman before stealing her car in the area of the Savers Thrift Store at 980 Ridge Road in Webster on June 21. Webster police were unable to apprehend the suspect.

The male first tried to steal one woman’s car keys, but was unsuccessful. He then approached a different female in the same parking lot, punched her, threatened to kill her, and then forcibly stole her car. The male left the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, a Webster PD investigating officer located the male and the stolen vehicle in the City of Rochester. The officer tried to apprehend the suspect, but he fled and evaded arrest.

The woman who was punched by the suspect did not sustain any serious injuries.

Webster PD asks anyone with any information regarding the incident to call 911.

“At this time, we are not releasing any additional information, including the names of the people involved,” Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier stated in a press release. “The investigation is active and we will release more details as the investigation allows.”
