Nearly 150 people either living or working at Hill Haven Nursing Home, located on Empire Boulevard in Webster, have tested positive for COVID-19, according to news reports.
With nursing home residents being at high risk, this news is very concerning for families of those living at Hill Haven.
Nursing homes have recently been required by the New York State Department of Health to test all employees twice a week. The testing has revealed the troubling numbers at Hill Haven.
Hill Haven is an affiliate of Rochester Regional Health. A letter from Rochester Regional to family members informing them of the confirmed cases at Hill Haven has been obtained by the Webster Online.
According to the letter, as of May 27, Hill Haven has had a total of 64 residents and 79 staff members test positive for COVID-19.
News reports say inspectors are looking into Hill Haven’s sanitation and infection control measures to ensure they are being properly adhered to. Additionally, they are making sure the nursing home has proper staffing to care for residents and enough personal protective equipment for employees who are not infected.
Rochester Regional Health is testing all residents who have not yet been tested or have previously tested negative. Results will be directly communicated to residents and families.
