NYSEG and RG&E are preparing for potential service disruptions caused by high winds and rain Thursday and Friday this week. Western New York, Rochester, Southern Tier, North Country, Capital Region, Hudson Valley, and Westchester regions are all expected to be affected.
Some areas may experience wind gusts of 40-50 mph.
The winds have already begun shaking things up this Thursday afternoon.
The companies have 400 company line personnel on-site and 250 more resources in anticipation of any outages that may occur.
The companies reassure their customers that their crews will adhere to CDC recommendations regarding social distancing and hygiene-related best practices in light of COVID-19.
Customers are asked to observe the six-foot social distance rule should they need to be outside near a work zone at any time crews are working.
To report downed power lines and/or power disruptions, NYSEG customers should call 1-800-572-1131 and RG&E customers should call 1-800-743-1701.
Stay safe, Webster!
