Webster, NY - South Vietnam refugee Ginny Nguyen has announced her candidacy for Webster Town Board.

Nguyen has been a Webster resident for years. Forty-five years ago, her family escaped from South Vietnam. Her father was a Lieutenant Colonel in the South Vietnamese Army.

Fearful that the communist dictators would persecute them, Nguyen’s family decided to immigrate to the United States.

“As refugees to the United States, her family has always loved this country and what it stands for,” the news release announcing Nguyen’s candidacy states.

Nguyen’s two sons attended Webster Schools. Her son Michael owns Roc Martial Arts. Her other son, Richard (Naval Academy), is serving as a Naval Nuclear Submarine Officer.

A local real estate agent, Nguyen is known for participating in community parades and dinners, and has also chaired and organized a number of charitable events.

“It would be an honor and a privilege for me to be the first Asian-born American to be on a Town Council and in this town that I love so much,” stated Nguyen.

There will be two Webster Town Board seats up for grabs in the November 2021 General Election. The date of the primary election is June 22, 2021. Nguyen will be running as a Republican.
