Webster, NY - It will be yet another year without a Webster Fireman's Carnival.
The Webster Volunteer Fire Department has canceled its annual Fireman's Carnival and Parade this year. Traditionally, the event takes place in July. But in an effort to continue playing it safe until COVID becomes even less of a risk, the fire department has decided to hold off another year.
“The health and safety of our residents and surrounding communities continue to be our highest priority,” President David LaRue and Carnival Committee Chairman Robert Buckert stated in a Webster FD news release.
The carnival and parade were canceled in 2020 due to COVID as well. It was the first time in over 80 years that the fire department has had to cancel the event.
“As a community we will get through this together and we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2022,” the news release stated.
Since the Webster Volunteer Fire Department is a 100% volunteer organization, the carnival is its single largest fundraising event. The Webster community is asked to consider donating to the department during its upcoming annual fund drive. Donations can also be made directly through www.donatewvfd.org at any time.
