Webster Democrats announce more general election candidates

The candidates are running for Webster Town Justice and Monroe County Legislature

Webster, NY - The Webster Democratic Committee recently announced its candidates for Webster Town Justice and Monroe County Legislature, District 8.

The committee previously announced its candidate selection of Danielle Palermo-Jimenez for Town Supervisor, Ashley Teague and Sid Bahl for Webster Town Board, and Sasha DiMaria for Monroe County Legislator (15th Legislative District).

Now the Webster Democrats have announced that Megan Thompson is running for Monroe County Legislator District 8 and Jeff Taylor is running for Webster Town Justice.

Jeffrey Taylor is a lifelong Webster native. While growing up in Webster, Jeff attended Klem Road North Elementary School, Spry Middle School, Schroeder High School, and is a graduate of Thomas High School. He later earned his B.A. at the University of Rochester, and a J.D. and MBA at SUNY Buffalo.

After law school, Jeff was employed at law firms in Buffalo and Rochester, and for the past 31 years has been an Assistant District Attorney at the Ontario County DA’s Office. Jeff has argued appeals in the Court of Appeals in Albany, and also a large number of appeals in the Appellate Division, and countless trials, hearings and calendars over the past 31 years in Supreme Court, county, city, town and village Courts. He has handled trials of every variety, including homicide, drug sales and possessions, burglaries, robberies, assaults, larcenies, DWIs, and countless traffic tickets.

For nearly 25 years, Jeff has taught classes at the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy, a regional training program to certify new police officers and service training classes for experienced police officers.

Jeff also raised his two sons, Kevin and Jason, in Webster, themselves graduates of Thomas High School.

Jeff’s hobbies include photography and travel. One of his photos of North Ponds Park was the cover of the “Webster Today” January 2021 magazine.

Megan Thompson is originally from Buffalo, NY. She has lived in Webster for over a decade. She is a community leader, volunteer, and entrepreneur. She has an extensive background in engineering, business management, and civic involvement.

In 2006, Megan graduated from RIT with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. She was awarded a Master’s of Imaging Science Degree in 2008 and completed her MBA at Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester in 2016.

Megan is a small business owner of Kharma Software. She supports sustainable jobs, believes in collaboration, and cares about making sure a budget reflects community priorities.

Other accomplishments include extensive volunteer work in her community. In 2017, Megan restarted the Webster Democratic Committee and organized Webster’s first Narcan training. She has been a Board member for the Moonshadow’s Spirit organization, co-chaired events for the Susan B Anthony House, and provided leadership training to RIT female engineering students. She has been a Girl Scout Leader since August 2016.

Along with her husband, Paul, Megan is raising her two daughters in the Town of Webster.

The Webster Republican Committee announced its selected candidates Webster Town Board and Webster Town Justice earlier this year. Incumbent Supervisor Tom Flaherty will be running for reelection; incumbent Webster Town Councilwoman Patti Cataldi and first-time runner Ginny Nguyen are running for the two Webster Town Board seats; and Thomas DiSalvo is running for reelection as Webster Town Justice.
