Webster, NY - Webster police report that a homeowner within the 600 block of Gravel Road shot a burglar early Tuesday morning.


The police arrived at the residence on Oct. 27 at approximately 1:29 a.m.


“Early indication is that a homeowner encountered and shot the alleged burglar,” Webster Police Chief Joseph Rieger states in a press release.


Police say the alleged burglar has been identified, but they have not released a name at the time of writing this article. The alleged burglar is listed in critical condition, and is being treated at an area hospital.


No charges have been filed at this time. Police say this is an active and ongoing investigation.


“While there is no threat to the community, anyone that may have information relating to this incident are encouraged to contact the Webster Police Department,” says Chief Rieger.


Rieger says more information will be released as the investigation allows.
