Every year on Memorial Day, the Webster American Legion and VFW posts organize a Memorial Day Parade that starts at Spry Middle School and concludes with a memorial service at Webster Rural Cemetery.
A respected veteran is selected each year as the parade’s Grand Marshal, groups of veterans ride in a deuce truck, first responders and scouts march with chins raised high, and children wave the American flag with their families lined all along Main Street.
But this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Webster Memorial Day Parade has been canceled.
The Town of Webster shared the announcement on social media.
Although the parade may be canceled, Webster Online encourages Webster residents to still pay their respects to veterans and remember those who lost their lives in military service. Whether it’s a phone call or a visit to the cemetery (while still social distancing!), there’s always a way to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Stay safe and healthy, Webster!
