Webster, NY - Webster police have arrested Andrey Ogonovskiy, 25, for stealing a vehicle and attempting to steal another vehicle in the area of Savers Thrift Store at 980 Ridge Road.
Ogonovskiy was apprehended by the Rochester Police Department Tactical Unit and turned over to the Webster Police Department. He was charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree, and Robbery 3rd Degree.
On June 21 in the Savers parking lot, Ogonovskiy first tried to steal one woman’s car keys, but was unsuccessful. He then approached a different female in the same parking lot, punched her, threatened to kill her, and then forcibly stole her car. He left the scene in the stolen vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, a Webster PD investigating officer located the male and the stolen vehicle in the City of Rochester. The officer tried to apprehend the suspect, but he fled and evaded arrest.
The woman who was punched by the suspect did not sustain any serious injuries.
Ogonovskiy was arraigned in Webster Town Court in front of Honorable Judge Corretore on June 29. He was remanded to Monroe County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond for each count.
“We would like to thank the community for their assistance in solving this brazen crime, as well as our law enforcement partners,” Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier stated in a press release. “We worked closely with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Rochester Police Department.”
