All library services, including drive-up, suspended until further notice

Despite its valiant efforts to continue servicing residents in any way it possibly could, the Webster Public Library has completely closed, shutting down any services that include in-person interaction.
Previously, the library had tried to provide Drive-Up and Pick-Up services, even while the indoor facilities were closed off to the public. However, even those services are now unavailable as of Thursday, March 19.
In a Facebook post, the Webster Public Library shared the following statement:
“We are so disappointed to announce that as of Thursday, March 19, we are completely closed and suspending all services involving in-person interaction, including Drive-Up, Pick-Up. We have made this decision for the safety of our employees and the community at large. We thank you for understanding—this is not a decision that was made easily.”
All library services are suspended until further notice.
According to the post, the library’s wireless internet will remain accessible 24/7. There are no overdue fees on any items currently checked out, and all checked out items will not be due until mid-May. The book drop will also remain open.
In an effort to keep patrons engaged and learning, the library will keep updating its YouTube page with children’s materials. Additionally, the library says it will regularly update its social media pages with “fun, new resources for you and your families to try at home.”
The library’s online resources will also be available for residents seeking books, audiobooks, magazines, or movies.
“Many libraries in Monroe County have increased their ebook budget, so the collection is increasing every day,” the library shared in its post.
“We want to thank you all so much for the love and appreciation you have shown us over the past several days. We could not have imagined the outpouring of emotion we’ve received. It has brought us so much joy to provide for our community in this time of need and make a difficult time a little bit easier.”
“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you. And rest assured—we’ll be back as soon as we can!”
All libraries within the Monroe County Library System are officially closed until further notice. Be sure to keep checking your library’s website and social media pages to stay up-to-date on available services and any new developments.
