A seasonal favorite, Webster’s Joe Obbie Farmers’ Market is back, albeit with strict rules passed down by the NYS Farmers Market Federation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The market officially kicked off this year’s season on June 13.

Same Market, New Rules

Below is a list of the rules everyone must now adhere to in order to keep the farmers’ market experience as safe as it can be.

  • All vendors and customers must wear masks.

  • All customers will be guided to go in one direction.

  • Social distancing must be maintained at all times.

  • Customers must ask vendors to hand them the products they want.

“We totally understand that everyone has different views on this and we respect your opinions,” the market states in a Facebook post shared on June 10.

It adds, “We understand that this might be a pain but we need to respect the mandatory guidelines and respect one another. We hope that we soon get back to life as we know it at [the] market, but in the meantime we need to do what is required.”

Some of the products sold at the Joe Obbie Farmers’ Market include fresh asparagus, rhubarb, radishes, strawberries, lettuce, spinach, maple syrup, cut flowers, plants, potatoes, handmade bags, apples, tomatoes, pickles, lamb, tea, baked goods, and more.
