Webster Town Councilman Barry Deane retires

The Town Board honored Deane with a proclamation for his 50 years of service

Webster, NY - The Webster Town Board honored now-former Councilman Barry Deane at its December 16 Town Board Meeting upon his retirement after 50 years of service. The Town Board presented him with a Proclamation for Outstanding Public Service.

Deane began working for the Town of Webster in November 1971 as a Laborer in the Highway Department. He was promoted to Working Foreman by September 1981, and then promoted to Roads Foreman by September 1989.

In July 1992, Deane earned the rank of Superintendent of Highways - a position he held until May 2008 before retiring.

Finally, Deane began serving as Town Councilman in January 2010. He was the Board Liaison for several departments, including Finance, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, the Webster Museum, the Town Planning and Zoning boards, and the Webster Police Department.

“Barry Deane gave the most precious gift he could give to the Webster community: his time,” the proclamation reads, “and for this, the Town of Webster owes Barry a debt of gratitude.”
