WHEN receives Town proclamation for Red Ribbon Week efforts

Webster, NY - Deputy Supervisor and Webster Town Board Member Patti Cataldi presented a proclamation to Webster Central School District and Webster Health and Education Network (WHEN) at a Town Workshop in honor of Red Ribbon Week.

Red Ribbon Week is a drug prevention awareness campaign that is celebrated annually from Oct. 23 thru 31st in the U.S.

Throughout Red Ribbon Week, WHEN shared activities families can do “to strengthen ‘protective factors,’ which help kids avoid the negative impacts of early drug and alcohol exposure,” according to the WHEN website.

For example, on Saturday, Oct. 24, WHEN designated as “Drug Drop Off” day, suggesting that families safely dispose of unused medications. On Sunday, WHEN suggested “Cultivate Gratitude” as the activity of the day. Monday was “Color Me Relaxed” (i.e. using coloring books); Tuesday was “Find Your Natural High”; Wednesday was “Family Dinner”; Thursday was “Conversation Starters”; and Friday was “Operation Parent.”

WHEN is a recognized leader in the advocacy and promotion of healthy, substance-free behaviors and lifestyles in the Webster community. The network collaborates with the Webster school district, town, and other community resources to promote drug education and awareness. WHEN became A Drug Free Community Coalition in 2018, updating its official title to Webster Health and Education Network: A Drug Free Community Coalition (WHEN:DFCC).
